Stockholm: A Destination Worth Knowing
Last month, our Project Manager Izzy visited Stockholm as part of The Meetings Space, a curated industry event connecting UK and European event buyers with global suppliers. But it wasn’t all meeting rooms and name badges! Alongside a programme of supplier meetings, Izzy spent time exploring the city properly - its venues, its culture and what makes it genuinely worth considering for corporate events and incentive travel.
Here's what she found.
The venues
Stockholm's venue offer is one of its strongest assets, and the range is genuinely impressive. The newly refurbished Sheraton Stockholm delivers everything you'd expect from a 5-star conference hotel: polished, well-equipped and with the kind of service that makes a multi-day event feel effortless.
Sheraton Stockholm
For something with more character, the Grand Hotel Stockholm is one of Europe's great addresses — a historic luxury property with a stunning ballroom and an atmosphere that adds real weight to any occasion.
House of People is a modern conference centre that doesn't feel like one, and Hotel Skeppsholmen offers something quieter and more boutique, sitting on its own island just outside the city centre. Both are worth knowing about for clients who want something beyond the obvious.
The there’s City Hall.
As the home of the Nobel Prize banquet every year, it carries genuine prestige.
Experiencing it as a gala dinner venue confirmed exactly why. The architecture is extraordinary, the setting is unlike anywhere else, and it's the kind of place that delegates remember long after the event ends.
For clients looking for a centrepiece dinner venue that truly earns its place in the programme, it's exceptional.
The experience
“Beyond the venues, what struck me most was how strong Stockholm is as a backdrop for the event experience itself. The city has a clear and compelling identity - design, food, history and the archipelago - and that gives event planners real material to work with when building social programmes and networking moments that go beyond the generic.”

Highlights from the trip included creating Sweden's iconic Princess Cake at a local chocolate factory, a city tour taking in Stockholm Palace, City Hall and the beautiful island archipelago, and a visit to Fotografiska, the world-renowned photography museum. Each of these would translate directly into memorable client experiences.
Why we'd recommend it
Stockholm suits a wide range of event formats. For corporate conferences, the combination of high-quality hotels and distinctive venues means you don't have to choose between a great working environment and a memorable setting. For incentive travel, it delivers on what matters most: visually impressive, culturally rich and still feeling like a discovery rather than the default option.
It's also worth noting that Stockholm consistently ranks among the world's most sustainable cities. For clients with B Corp commitments or ESG considerations built into their briefs, that's increasingly part of the conversation rather than a footnote.
Practically speaking, Stockholm Arlanda is well connected to major UK airports with flight times of around two to two and a half hours, making it an easy sell as well as an impressive one.
If you're considering Stockholm for an upcoming conference or incentive programme, we'd love to talk it through. Our team has first-hand experience of the destination and the supplier relationships to make it work.
