NATIONWIDE BUILDING SOCIETY

Arthur Webb Challenge - semi finals. A internal campaign to inspire colleagues to drive innovation.

Project management. Technical Production. Live delivery.

Who.

Nationwide, a long standing client of Powwow, asked the team to support them in producing an internal staff event which harnesses creativity and innovation within the business in order to look at possible time and cost savings. The event is open to the entire workforce and championed internally by Tony Prestedge, Deputy Chief Executive. The event took its inspiration from the figure synonymous with pioneering spirt – the founder of Nationwide, Arthur Webb.

What.

Powwow were tasked with creating a fun, vibrant and high energy environment within the society’s head offices where teams feel comfortable presenting their innovation ideas. Maximizing the awareness across the business and increasing engagement.

The Arthur Webb Challenge Cup semifinals were a fast paced series of thirty team pitches run over three days with a live broadcast and stream running alongside. Each team presented to a panel of five judges as well as a large group audience made up of peers.

Thought was needed as to the flow of the days, and how the overall look and feel would enhance the mood and keep energy at a high level throughout the pitches and Q&A sessions.

Rather than have the event in an offsite venue, the team were keen to utilise a space that would make the campaign more visible to staff.

How.

Powwow were responsible for creating a flexible and interactive environment for the teams pitching, which in this instance was the huge glass Atrium within Nationwide Headquarters, a building which houses over 3000 people on a daily basis.

The event had to not only work well within the space but also deliver on a key objective of keeping Nationwide HQ very much ‘business as usual’ for those not involved.

The look and feel was fun and cheeky to reflect the style and spirit of the event. This was not a formal corporate event and we had the flexibility to create something different in an internal space. Powwow worked with the internal campaigns team on a series of creative assets used in the run up and during the event as well as an overall brand identity using the iconic Arthur Webb moustache……

Powwow were responsible for the full AV installation and the technical running of the event including show calling and stage management. Careful consideration needed to be given to all elements of the build including sound and light given the very different environment. Powwow were able to work through the planning and design stage with an internal taskforce to ensure the vision could be practically delivered and what a result!

“A huge thanks for all of the time and effort you and your team put in to making Arthur Webb a success – we’ve had so many positive comments about it!”
